I didn’t set out to paint New York.

But after living there for nearly a decade, I think some places just become part of your visual language. Somewhere between the grids, the layers, the movement, the color and the chaos, New York started showing up.

Love Letter to NY is an original 36” × 48” abstract painting filled with soft, atmospheric blues, cobalt grids, washes of white and unexpected hits of hot pink, orange and olive. There are moments that feel like streets and windows, buildings and intersections and others that are simply about movement, memory and the beautiful mess of it all.

It’s busy and calm. Structured and messy. Sophisticated with a little silliness.

This piece is a departure from much of the work I’m known for, but it still feels completely like me. Maybe that’s because New York is still in there, too.
